Bell Switzerland Ltd. maintains around 35 breeding centres, mainly in rural Lucerne, the neighbouring canton of Bern and in South Germany. Around 100,000 hens and 10,000 cockerels are raised in Switzerland every year. The parent birds for Bell’s chicken production come mainly from France and Holland. The female and male birds are mixed at a ratio of 9:1 at the laying farms. The hens lay around 16 million hatching eggs every year. Each individual egg is checked prior to transport to our contract hatcheries.
