For over a year now, "The Green Mountain" burger has been the alternative for all burger fans who want to reduce their meat consumption in Swiss restaurants. Since the end of March this year, end consumers have finally been able to enjoy the patties. Accompanied by a large package of measures, "The Green Mountain" burger was successfully launched in the retail trade and is enjoying growing popularity.

Whether out of love for animals or to protect the environment - more and more people are giving up meat completely or partially. But does that mean you have to swear off juicy burgers? "The Green Mountain" project manager Werner Ott says: "No!"

With "The Green Mountain" burger, the in-house start-up from Landquart offers a vegan burger based on pea protein that can easily compete with its beef counterpart. Hilcona already proved its pioneering role in the vegan sector when it introduced the innovation for the food service industry: "The Green Mountain" burger was the first plant-based burger developed and produced in Switzerland. Now the successful concept is being extended to the Swiss retail trade: Since the end of March, Coop customers have been able to see for themselves that the new burger looks like meat, can be prepared like meat and also tastes like meat.

The patties are an excellent source of protein. They are also rich in fiber and vitamin B12. At the same time, the manufactory does not use flavor enhancers, soy, genetic engineering, palm oil or added sugar. The burger is also cholesterol- and lactose-free. Perfect for a conscious diet.

When selecting the raw materials, the product developers paid attention to the highest quality and, in the interests of sustainability, also to short delivery routes. All ingredients, with the exception of the coconut fat, are sourced from the EU.

The Green Mountain burger can also be prepared on the grill in addition to the pan and oven, which is clearly recommended. Roasting and grilling produces an appetizing brown color and a delicious roasted aroma. Creative recipe ideas for this can be found on "The Green Mountain" website: www.thegreenmountain.ch. Hilcona has also launched a new range under the motto "Zero meat. Ächt Schwiiz." hilcona also launched an extensive marketing campaign with a variety of POS, social media and discount campaigns to launch the new product in spring.

And the meat-free indulgence continues: "The Green Mountain" is already working intensively on new products, with two more coming onto the market this fall. The manufactory is primarily targeting the growing group of flexitarians, i.e. those who enjoy eating meat but want to limit their consumption. "We got off to a very good start," summarizes Werner Ott. "Sales in the first few weeks have even significantly exceeded our high expectations and the numerous consumer feedbacks show us that we are on the right track."
